Top Ten Most Frequently Asked Questions
About This Web Site

Q: What are the minimum Web browser requirements my computer needs to be able to use this site?
A: This site is best viewed in Windows with Internet Explorer 5 or higher or Netscape 4.7 or higher. You may have problems on this site if you view it in other browsers or on other platforms. Some of the functions available to logged in users can not be viewed in Internet Explorer 5.0, Firefox, or Mozilla on the Mac.
For Mac Users:
Opera Web Browser (similar to IE or Firefox) enables you to fully utilize the Questionnaire. You may download the software at www.opera.com.

Q: Do I need Cookies and Javascript?
A: Yes! Your browser needs to have JavaScript enabled and allow cookies. To change these settings in Internet Explorer pull down the "View" menu and select "Internet Options"; in Netscape pull down the "Edit" menu and select "Preferences".

Q: What if I don't have a CCO login and password?
A: CCO logins are only available to PEA students who are uppers, seniors, and the College Counseling staff. If you are a student in one of those groups, and don't have your CCO login and password yet, see your CCO Counselor. If you do not have a CCO login, there is still plenty of information available to you on the site, but you won't be able to save personal, college, and statistical information to your own customized page.

Q: What if I lose my CCO login and/or password or want to change it?
A: Go see your CCO Counselor — they can look up your login and tell you what it is. You can't change your CCO login name, but you can change your password during a visit with your CCO counselor.

Q: What's the "logout" button for?
A: It's to protect your privacy. If you access the CCO site from a machine that other people use, too, when you are done using the site be sure to go to your Student Profile Page and in the upper righthand corner of your page click "logout" to ensure that the next person who uses that machine won't be able to access your personal information.

Q: Who else can see my Student Profile Page?
A: Only your CCO counselor will be able to see your information; of course if you reveal your CCO login and password to someone, that person will be able to access your information, too. Or, if you use a shared machine (such as in the library) and do not log out, or let other people use your dorm machine and do not log out, then the next user(s) will be able to see your information.

Q: How do I change my address, phone information etc. on my Student Profile Page and on my Student Questionnaire?
A: On your profile page, you can save or unsave information where checkboxes are shown, but you can't edit the information shown at the top of the page. If something shown there is not correct, you can send a change request to your CCO Counselor using the comments form. On the Questionnaire, the information you can change yourself is displayed in input boxes (fields) which allow you to write on and edit the form, but if the text is in not within an input box, you can't change it yourself and will have to send a change request via the comments form to your CCO counselor.

Q: In my college notes, what is "PEA GPA"?
A: "College notes" is the little yellow box of stats and comments that appears when you pass your cursor over a saved college name. "PEA GPA" is the mean PEA GPA for Class of 2006 who were accepted to that college.

Q: In the Calendar, what is a "Date Span" event?
A: It's an event that lasts more than one day. Date Span events don't appear on the main grid of the Calendar; instead they show in a separate box to the left of the main grid. A Date Span event will appear on all months, weeks, or days which have dates matching any date in that Event's range.

Q: When I "uncheck" a saved box for an event or a college for example, why doesn't it disappear immediately from my Profile page?
A: It's a feature not a bug. It gives you a chance to change your mind and re-check the box before the item disappears. The next time you load your Profile page, the unchecked items will be gone. (If you want to speed the process up, hold down the "shift" key on your keboard and click "reload", and the unchecked items will be gone.)
